IMI EV/Hybrid | High Voltage Safe Working Module Accreditation
Course Duration
The course duration is one day (9am - 5pm) at our Training Centre.
Course Location
The course will take place at our TDN Training Centre in Peterborough, UK. We also offer the option for on-site Training, providing the minimum candidate requirements are met. Please get in touch for a personalised estimate.
Who is this course designed for?
This IMI Award is designed for all technicians who maintain and repair hybrid technology vehicles, but not the Hybrid system itself. It contains the knowledge to power down and work safely around the vehicle and it's high voltage components.
Why should I do this course?
These qualifications are the first of their kind to address hybrid electric vehicles’ technologies. They are required to ensure the safety of technicians working on high voltage hybrid vehicles. On completion of this ‘single unit’ qualification, technicians will have gained knowledge of high voltage hybrid technologies and an understanding of their dangers.
Will I get a Certificate?
Yes. Upon completion of your course, you will receive an official IMI personalised certificate in the post.
The Course Structure:
The Theory Test
An Instructor led course that delivers all knowledge needed to be able to work safely and confidently power down Electric or Hybrid vehicles. This course, as opposed to our online lesson, allows the candidates to discuss and ask questions throughout the delivery, giving more understanding and deeper knowledge of the key components and the hazards we face. The candidates will then participate in a written methods document and then a small test on the knowledge learnt throughout the day.
The PPR (Personal Protection Equipment)
The candidates will be able to see, feel and wear all of the protective equipment needed to carry out repairs on an EV/Hybrid vehicle. Again, this is a benefit most don’t receive with online classes.
The Practical Test
The instructor will use a live vehicle to point out the components and general make up of this type of vehicle using vehicle schematics He/she will then demonstrate the power down procedure as per the manufacturer's methods. The candidates will then perform the power down using the correct process and methods on a one to one basis with the instructor present to make sure it is being carried out in a safe manner. On successful completion the candidate will be qualified to power down vehicles and will come away with the knowledge which will safeguard them and their clients on any EV/Hybrid repairs.
